March 30, 2023 — Use the visualizations below to explore the supply of different types of physicians and nurses across health regions.

These interactive maps illustrate the number of different types of physicians and nurses per 10,000 population across Canada’s health regions in 2021. Data is available for

  • All physicians, family physicians and specialist physicians
  • All regulated nurses, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses and licensed practical nurses

Use the drop-down menu to make a selection; the information in the map will update automatically.

  • To navigate the map, click and drag with your mouse.
  • To zoom the map in and out,
    • Use the mouse wheel
    • Click the plus and minus buttons on the right side of the tool
    • Pinch and drag (on touch devices)
  • Hover over the map to see a pop-up with information specific to that region:
    • Hover over a health region to see the number of the selected type of health care professional per 10,000 population in 2021.
