Who is CIHI?

We are an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing comparable and actionable data and information that are used to accelerate improvements in health care, health system performance and population health across Canada.

We work closely with federal, provincial and territorial partners and stakeholders across Canada to collect, package and distribute data and information on topics like mental health, substance use, health spending and COVID-19. This information helps inform health policy, management, care and research across the country.

For more than 25 years, CIHI has set the pace on data privacy, security, accessibility and innovation to improve Canada’s health systems.

CIHI: Better data. Better decisions. Healthier Canadians.

What our employees say about us

Naima
I’m new to CIHI and have been at the organization for about 4 months. From the beginning, people have been so helpful. Even colleagues from outside my team have reached out to welcome me. My role involves developing interprovincial billing rates for different health services across the country to support the administration of the Canada Health Act. It’s rewarding to know that my work makes an impact.— Naima, Analyst, Financial Standards and Information

Evasha
Since I was promoted to a permanent position from a contract, I’ve had even more opportunities to participate in training sessions to ensure I’m always learning new skills. My managers are always pushing me to grow, not only for the skills I need as an analyst, but for my future career development as well.— Evasha, Analyst, Population and Indigenous Health
