Canadian Joint Replacement Registry (CJRR)

The Canadian Joint Replacement Registry (CJRR) is a national medical device registry that houses patient-specific information (clinical, surgical and prosthesis) on hip and knee replacement surgeries performed in Canada. CIHI uses this information to produce in-depth reports and analyses on hip and knee replacements. CJRR was launched in 2001 as a collaborative effort between CIHI and the Canadian Orthopaedic Association. Every year, CIHI reports the latest statistics on these high-volume, high-cost surgeries. Monitoring the outcomes for patients who have had hip and/or knee replacements and understanding the factors that affect the outcomes of these procedures is particularly important for our aging population.

CJRR is guided by an advisory committee, which is made up of a mix of surgeons, regional decision-makers, patient advisors, and representatives from other specific groups. It is chaired by Dr. Eric Bohm and co-chaired by Dr. Jason Werle.
