Rationale

Understanding the geographic and age variation for each type of transplanted solid organ can help assess needs in research, funding and donor promotion.

Caveats and Limitations

The indicator is based on voluntary data submitted to CORR from OPOs across Canada.

Data from Quebec was not included because of significant under-reporting between 2011 and 2015, which may lead to biased results.

Trending Issues

An overview of under-reporting of organ transplant cases can be found in Data Quality Documentation for Users: Canadian Organ Replacement Register, 2006 to 2015 Data .
